A Phoenix Crown - Feng Guan - is an ancient Chinese head piece worn by brides for weddings or by noblewomen for ceremonies, usually made with gold, jewelry, feather and gemstones. With my Chinese cultural background, I've always been a fan of ancient Chinese aesthetics, that's why I created this piece. 囍 (Xi) is a Chinese script character meaning "Double Happiness", this character is a symbol of joy and marital bliss. I named this piece as Xi to connect with the marital theme of the Phoenix Crown. The technique I used is called paper quilling, this technique is much more accessible to me as the original is quite luxurious.
